Southbury, CT (December 25, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 25, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Southbury.

According to police, the accident took place on I-84 around Exit 16. An 85-year-old man named Ronald Shaw drove off the highway and into the median for reasons that are not yet known. He got out of his vehicle and started to cross the roadway where he was struck by a passenger vehicle.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident to assist those in need. Shaw was the only person injured in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were delays in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
