Southbury, CT (February 19, 2021) – On Thursday night, February 18, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident in Southbury.

According to Connecticut State Police, the accident took place in the eastbound lanes of I-84 around the area of Exit 15. A previous crash occurred in the area. Drivers from both vehicles were standing outside their vehicles in the area. All of a sudden, a Honda Pilot came along and ran into one of the vehicles, causing it to strike a female pedestrian.

The Pilot then spun around and ran into a second pedestrian. The second pedestrian was identified as 36-year-old Michael Canby, who suffered from fatal injuries. The female pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes for a period of time.
