Vernon, CT (June 16, 2021) – At 5:58 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, June 16, a man was killed in a fatal moped accident in Vernon.
According to officials, the accident happened on Route 30 around the area of the Shops at 30 retail plaza. A moped was traveling in the area when a Dodge Ram pickup truck collided with the vehicle. This led to extensive damages to the involved moped.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the moped, identified as 70-year-old Owen Wright, was rushed to Rockville General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was identified as a 50-year-old man from Vernon. He remained at the scene of the crash but was not injured.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for approximately two hours until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
