Tolland, CT (June 2, 2021) – On Monday, May 31, a child was seriously injured in an ATV accident in Tolland.

According to officials, the accident happened on Mountain Spring Road. A 30-year-old man was operating an ATV when the driver went around a curve and lost control. Their ATV went off the side of the road where it struck a tree. The driver and a 9-year-old girl were thrown off of the ATV.

Police confirmed that a 12-year-old girl, a 9-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old girl were passengers on the back of the ATV. The 9-year-old was severely injured and taken to a local children’s hospital by medical helicopter. The 6-year-old had minor injuries, as well as the 12-year-old. They were also hospitalized.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
