Windsor, CT (February 2, 2021) – On Sunday, January 31, a pedestrian accident with injuries occurred in a parking lot in Windsor.

According to police, an 88-year-old man was walking at the Price Chopper parking lot on Poquonock Avenue. The victim allegedly got out of his vehicle and went over to grab a shopping car. A silver vehicle was trying to park and sped up, striking the victim. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene of the crash.

Police confirmed that the victim was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle and then onto the ground. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries but is expected to recover.

The suspect was later found by police. He has since been identified as 83-year-old Rashmi Bhatt, who has since been arrested by police.

The area was blocked for a period of time until police cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
