Plainfield, CT (April 13, 2021) – Around 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Monday, April 12, a serious tractor-trailer crash occurred in Plainfield.

According to police, the accident happened on Putnam Road (Route 12) when a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer collided with each other. At the time, a 72-year-old driver was traveling south in a passenger vehicle when his car was involved in a crash with a northbound tractor-trailer.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle had to be extricated from their vehicle by fire crews and was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 26-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer did not have injuries and remained at the scene.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes for hours until police cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
