Stonington, CT (December 15, 2020) – Around 8:37 p.m. on Monday night, December 14, a serious tractor-trailer accident occurred on a highway in Stonington.

According to police, the accident took place in the northbound lanes of I-95 when an 18-year-old woman from Rhode Island was driving in the center lane. Her vehicle collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer for reasons that are not yet known.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The woman was seriously injured as a result of the accident. She was airlifted to the Rhode Island Hospital but her current condition is not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in numerous lanes for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
