Vernon, CT (May 24, 2021) – At 11:15 p.m. on Sunday night, May 23, a hit-and-run accident took place on a major roadway in Vernon.

According to police, the accident happened on CT-83. A car was traveling northbound on the roadway when it was struck from behind by another vehicle. The vehicle was pushed forward so forcefully that it struck a utility pole. The first vehicle fled the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the second vehicle suffered from serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

Officials are still looking for the party responsible for the accident.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
